Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls trailer
Trailer: horror comedy Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls is coming to theatres for one night in October
I had never heard of Onyx the Fortuitous before I started seeing reports about the upcoming movie Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls – and even then, I didn’t pay much attention to it because I figured something called Onyx the Fortuitous must be an animated children’s film. But as it turns out, Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls is a horror comedy and Onyx the Fortuitous himself is a viral character who was created by Andrew Bowser and has accumulated over 300 million views online, with over 1 million followers on TikTok. Now Bowser’s movie Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls is set to receive a one-night theatrical release in North America, courtesy of Cinedigm and Fathom Events, on October 19th. Tickets can be purchased at THIS LINK, and a trailer for the film is embedded above to help you decide whether or not this is a movie you’ll want to head out to see in October.
The film was written and directed by Bowser, who also stars as Onyx, an amateur occultist who learns that sometimes when you raise HELL… you get a little burned. Just when Onyx is about to give up his paranormal pursuits, he receives an invitation to meet with his idol, Bartok the Great, to take part in a ritual to revive an ancient demon. Onyx makes friends with fellow disciples as things take a turn for the worst and they battle to keep their souls.
Bowser is joined in the cast by Olivia Taylor Dudley, Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, Ralph Ineson, Rivkah Reyes, TC Carson, Arden Myrin, and Melanie Chandra.
Bowser and Dudley also produced Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls with Clark Baker and Michael Mobley.
Brad Miska, managing director of Bloody Disgusting/Cinedigm, told Variety, “Get ready to be transported back in time with this hilarious throwback to ’80s horror that will have you laughing and screaming in equal measure. It’s Elvira: Mistress of the Dark meets Fright Night, Beetlejuice, and even Ernest Scared Stupid with practical effects that will leave you speechless. If you’re a fan of the viral sensation that is Onyx, you won’t want to miss this uproariously fun adventure on the big screen this fall.“
